Tarangire National Park is one of the most important game reserves and is located in northern Tanzania. The park is just a 2.5-hour drive from Arusha, the town that is the starting point of safari in Tanzania’s northern circuit for many travelers. Tarangire is very impressive and has a unique character. Tarangire National park is one green oasis for much of the year and wildlife abounds in the park. The park is known for the large herds of elephants that live here. The Tarangire River flows through the park and provides an oasis of life in the middle of the dry savannas. The park is 2,850 square kilometers and consists of grasslands, hills, forests and majestic baobab trees that are up to 100 years old. It is an enchanting landscape. The annual migration of thousands of elephants makes Tarangire a must see during your safari. Watching the herds gather along the banks of the river is spectacular.
Animals in Tarangire National Park
In addition to elephants, numerous other wild animals such as lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes and a huge number of bird species live here. The Tarangire River is home to hippos and crocodiles. This river is also an important source of survival for many wild animals in the park. Large groups of skechers, zebras and buffalo come to the banks. All this, of course, also attracts the attention of predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and also hyenas.
