Are you looking for an adventure climb in Africa, but want something different from the famous Kilimanjaro?
Then climbing Mount Meru is a perfect choice. Often called “Kili’s little brother,” this impressive volcano is located in the middle of Tanzania’s Arusha National Park. At 4,562 meters, its summit, Socialist Peak, is the fifth highest in Africa. During the climb you will not only be rewarded with breathtaking views, but also come face to face with wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes and colobus monkeys.

- Perfect acclimatization: Many travelers choose to first climb Mount Meru first before doing Kilimanjaro. That way you reduce the chance of altitude sickness.
- Unique nature experience: Because the route crosses the national park, the climb feels like a combination of trekking and safari.
HOW MANY DAYS DO I NEED?
THE IDEAL ASCENT
The most frequently chosen option is a 4-day ascent of Mount Meru. This schedule will give you enough time to acclimate and experience the trek at a leisurely pace. This trek is as follows:
- Day 1 Arrival and transfer to lodge
- Day 2 Visit to Arusha NP, start trekking from Momella Gate (1,500m) to Miriakamba Hut (2,500m)
- Day 3 From Miriakamba Hut (2500m) to the Saddle hut (3500m).
- Day 4 From Saddle hut (3,500m) to Socialist Peak (4,562m) to Miriakamba Hut (2,500m)
- Day 5 From Miriakamba Hut (2,500m) to Momella Gate (1,500m) and transfer to lodge
- Day 6 Depart Arusha Airport or continue trip with safari/zanzibar

This trek is also possible as a 3 day variant, you will walk from Miriakamba hut back to Momella gate in one go. Kosten for the 3 day โฌ 995 p.p.
