The imposing 600-meter-high crater wall creates a unique ecosystem with diverse climate zones and landscapes. Here you will find a salt lake as well as vast grasslands, swamps and forests. Thanks to these varied landscapes, the biodiversity in the crater is impressive. The chances of spotting the famous Big Five are high here, but giraffes, zebras, gazelles and wildebeest are also abundant. Along the shores of the salt lake you often see a pink haze, caused by elegant groups of flamingos.
