Elephant Caves & Endoro waterfalls

This beautiful two-hour hike starts at Gibbs Farm. You will walk through the rainforest of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. During this hike you will visit the Endoro waterfalls and the ‘Elephant caves’ under the guidance of a ranger. The hike starts near Gibbs farm and through the forested slopes, the trail leads to an ancient site where elephants beat the rocks with their tusks. They ate the vitamin-rich soil to get enough minerals and make their bones very strong. The “caves” were once used by local tribes as a shelter, this hike gives an insight into the ancient traditions and survival strategies of the inhabitants.
