VACCINATIONS TANZANIA

If you will be traveling to Tanzania, it is wise to get informed about the recommended vaccinations. Exactly which vaccinations you need depends on several factors, such as the length of your stay, the areas you are visiting, and your personal health situation. The current recommended vaccinations for Tanzania are:
  • DTP
  • Hepatitis A

Different rules apply to Yellow Fever since 2024, and you only need to vaccinate if you visit a country with Yellow Fever beforehand. In Tanzania, Yellow fever does not occur. Want to know which vaccinations apply to you? Then ask for personal advice at the GGD, the tropical department of the hospital or Meditel. They can tell you which vaccinations you need to be well prepared to go to Tanzania and Zanzibar.

MALARIA IN TANZANIA

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by malaria parasites that enter the body during a mosquito bite. Symptoms: chills, followed by fever. Usually preceded by a flu-like feeling. You cannot vaccinate against malaria. However, the use of malaria tablets is recommended during your trip through Tanzania. For advice on proper preventive measures and anti-malarial drugs you can also contact the tropical department of the GGD. To protect yourself from mosquito bites, we recommend bringing anti-mosquito spray with a high percentage of DEET when traveling to Tanzania and covering your body properly in the evening. DEET is not for sale in Tanzania, so make sure you already buy it in the Netherlands.
